Most domestic electrical faults are relatively easy to resolve, typically you will have a tripping RCD (Residual Current Device) or an RCBO (Residual Current Breaker with Overload). These devices are designed to avoid electric shock, however they can be extremely sensitive and will trip out with even a mild flow of current through the earth. Another common fault can be a dysfunctional appliance which can be easily isolated. In any event simply call us on 07749730033 and we will be able to help.

    Common Electrical Problems

    Frequently Tripping Breakers

This is common when there is too much demand on a single circuit, typically this can be in a kitchen when all appliances are being used. You should consider having the circuit upgraded to a ring main or adding a new circuit.

    Frequently Tripping RCD

Your consumer unit will usually have 2 RCD'd thus splitting up the installation, once you have identified which RCD is tripping, switch off all breakers to the left of the RCD then switch on the RCD and wait to see if it doesn't trip. With any luck it won't and after a few minutes switch on each circuit one by one leaving a few minutes interval between breakers. Hopefully you will be able to identify which circuit is faulty, just leave this switched off and wait for us to visit.

    Lightbulbs Burning Out Frequently

This can often be much more serious than just overuse and could spell of worn insulation within the wiring which will need to be tested by performing insulation resistance test on the entire circuit.

    Warm Sockets or Switches

This can be the sign of damaged or faulty conductors and be the cause of fire, Call us out immediately.
